When I started coaching and working as a personal trainer, I fell DEEP into the toxic side of the fitness industry.
I believed "my body was my business card", that people only wanted fat loss and that the only way for me to be successful was to constantly stay photoshoot ready, or else I wouldn't be a good coach.
Oh yeah, and I was also struggling with binge eating, constantly comparing myself to other coaches and hating my body. Not a slay.
I felt so alone and ashamed - IÂ should know better and I'm a coach! Something had to give, so I put my shame spiral aside and worked on my relationship with food and my body.
Now, after working with LOTS of coaches 1:1 on their relationship with food and body image, and studying disordered eating and body image issues in fitness professionals as part of my PhD (gotta intellectualise the trauma, amriite), I realised just how common it is to struggle, and exactly what needs to be done to get help.
